This Ain't No Hippie Hot Spring
Your "Summer of Love" getwaway
would not be complete with out a dip
in the local hot springs. Ojo Caliente
Mineral Springs Resort and Spa is our
choice for the best soak around. Its
remote location is a harmonious place
to experience a thousand pinpoints of
stars in a velvety night, or New
Mexico's sunny disposition by day.
That this is truly a magical place is confirmed by the fact that it's the only hot springs in
the world with a combination of four different types of sulfur-free mineral waters. The
curative properties of the mineral waters were used by nearby Pueblo Indians
hundreds of years ago. The ancient people would congregate in the healing waters.
Ojo's 1200-acres include ten geothermal pools and buildings on the National Registry of
Historic Places. Built in 1868, the Bath House contains the Spa Lounge, steam room and
sauna. The 1916 hotel and adobe round barn were all renovated in keeping with Ojo’s
unpretentious and tranquil environment.
A full array of soothing and restorative treatments is found at the Spa. The Milagro
Relaxation Wrap is Ojo's signature therapy. After soaking in the mineral spring of your
choice, you're wrapped first in cotton, then a wool blanket that accelerates the release
of toxins from your body. After twenty minutes of relaxing to soft Native American flute
music, a cold shower stimulates your skin. (Although Ojo celebrates "The Summer of
Love," you won't hear Jimi Hendrix's electric guitar during restorative treatments.)
We recommend the Cliffside Suites touting kiva fireplaces, viga ceilings, full baths and
cliffside, outdoor private soaking tubs. $299 per night includes all Ojo's soaking pools,
steam and sauna. If one of these six coveted suites is not available, then de-stress in a
Pueblo Suite, about $249, and reserve a private outdoor pool ($40 for 50 minutes.)
