MENU ITEMS: SUNSET DINNER - 4-6PM, Monday to Friday, 4 courses for $16.95
Appetizer, Choice of Chowder or Caesar Salad, Entree, Creme Brulee or Bailey's Irish Cream Mousse.
The Appetizer was a Chilled Bay Shrimp Cocktail - nothing special.
Chowder - Viv tried the New England style chowder - quite good.
Caesar Salad - Jill really enjoyed the caesar salad with a very good, garlicky dressing.
Willapa Bay Oysters - pan fried and served with a cocktail and tarter sauce, brocollini sauteed in butter, and rice pilaf. Viv enjoyed the oysters, but the rice pilaf could be replaced as it was rather bland, dry and boring.
Trout - Jill found the trout to be moist and tasty, although it was the skinniest fish ever seen. Served with the same boring pilaf and brocollini.
Creme Brulee - Jill found this to be very disappointing as the sugar top was soggy and not hard as it should be. Not a good way to end a meal. Totally inedible.
Bailey's Irish Cream Mousse - Acceptable, but nothing to rave about.
Rating: 3*** Overall Experience: Average. Atmosphere: Pleasant atmosphere with lots of windows to enjoy the view. Noisy which made it difficult to hear our dinner company across the table. Service: Pleasant, friendly, could be more efficient. Bill delivered to table while we were eating dessert. Water glasses were not kept filled. Menu items: Large menu with a good selection of fresh fish and seafood. Steak is also available, so there should be something to please everyone. Food Presentation: Adequate portions. Food Prices: Reasonable. Alcohol: Full bar. Alcohol Selection: Good, offering some local favorites. Alcohol Prices: Average. How many were seated at your table? 4 Do they accept reservations? Yes, and recommended for dinner. Credit Cards accepted? Yes Recommendations: A great place to enjoy the views and patio weather permitting. The staff could really do with a little more training.
The hostess wanted to seat us at a round table for eight - as there were only four of us, it would have been very difficult and uncomfortable for us to enjoy dinner and conversation. We asked to be moved to a booth that seated four, there were two of them available right next to us.
The Bus boy picked up water glasses close to the rim, which is a great way to transmit nasty germs from customer to customer.
The server placed the bill on the table with dessert. We do not appreciate this practice as it indicates that the server is finished with you and that's where the service ends. Restaurants really need to think their policy through when bringing the bill to a table. Lunch is a different matter - people are generally in a hurry to get back to work and often times will want the bill ASAP. Dinner is usually a more relaxed affair and not rushed unless the diners inform the server that they want the bill promptly as they are pressed for time.
