It was terrific to spend some time
with one of my all-time favorite
female pros ~
Marsha Waggoner.
Marsha always takes the time to
visit with others and shows a
genuine interest in fellow players.
Also spotted at the tables:
Barbara Enright; Linda Johnson;
Susie Isaacs;  and Jan Fisher.
Entry into the tournament was
$175 ($150 Buy-In, $15 Fee, $10
Bonus Chips) with 10,000 in chips
to start.  The Ladies event kicked
off at 3PM on April 18th and I was
sitting tight when the dinner break
came along.  Now here I must
make mention of the fabulous
After dinner, I lasted another blind, but then I was toast.
Short-stacked, I moved all in with a pair and got rivered to meet
my tournament demise going out in 56th place.   The intense
energy in the ballroom kept me hanging around to eventually
watch the tourney finale.  Final Table was announced at
midnight with a winner wearing a bracelet at 1:30AM!

It was an exciting final table with a chop proposed with five
players remaining.  The women agreed on each taking $2000
and playing on with the eventual winner taking the title,
bracelet, Aruba trip and an extra thousand bucks.

Here's the breakdown:
Wildhorse Resort & Casino
~ Spring 2011 Poker Round-Up
Even with an April calendar chockablock full of WAVE Journey travel commitments, wild horses couldn't keep me
away from squeezing in a two-day visit to Pendleton.  Yes, it is that time of year again... time for the Wildhorse
Spring 2011 Poker Round-Up at the
Wildhorse Resort & Casino.  As I write, tournament play is coming to a close
with the event running April 13th to the 24th.
The Wildhorse has been running these tournaments for years now with scheduled "Round-Ups" in the Spring,
Summer & Fall.
Roland Waters, the Tournament Director and Poker Manager, touts a forty year history of poker
room management dating back to early days at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles.  It was there that he formed
long-lasting friendships with some of poker's best players.  It is this foundation of friendship and loyalty that seems
to guarantee a top notch turnout of pros at any of the Poker Round-Ups.  Mr. Waters has been ably assisted by
Billie Robbins for the past nine years.  Billie is a gem and players love her ever-present smile and readiness to
answer any question.

My bankroll allowed me entry into two tournaments -- the Ladies No-limit Hold'em and the Seniors event.  The
ladies tourney boasted a turnout of 113 gals with some players relatively new to the game and others included
seasoned pros.

dinner buffet that the Wildhorse puts on for their poker players... it is included with your tourney entry fee and
may very well be the best part of the deal for some folks.  Always good, always filling, always satisfying.  Some
folks may walk out of the ballroom complaining about a bad beat, but no one walks out complaining about the food!
