WAVE Journey road-tripped to Reno, Nevada earlier this month to participate in a
3-day Ladies Weekend of Poker at Peppermill Reno Resort Spa Casino. LIPS (Ladies
International Poker Series) teamed with Mike Gainey and his crew at the Peppermill
to feature two LIPS NL Tournaments, as well as, the Nevada Ladies Poker State
Championship Tournament.
The weekend kicked off with a wine tasting & hors d'oeuvres "Meet & Greet". The
room, filled with boisterous conversation, was the perfect setting for connecting with
old friends. Women came from all over the US and even a Canadian or two showed
up! The Friday night tournament was won by Denise Brody of Castro Valley, CA.
On Saturday, while Viv spent the morning relaxing in the Tuscan Towers 17th floor
suite playing online video poker, Jill joined up with the other women poker players
and they were all treated to a poker seminar presented by Linda Johnson and Jan
Fisher. The one-hour event proved to be a question and answer session with quite
a few laughs and a great exchange of information and philosophies on all things
poker. The afternoon tournament was taken down by Tania Williams of Tampa, FL.
A Sunday Brunch Buffet wowed most participants and got the engines revved for the
Nevada Ladies Poker State championship Tournament. Once again, over 100
women turned out for some serious, albeit filled with chatter, poker play!
Congratulations to the 2011 NV State Ladies Champion ~ MarLeice Hyde of Fairview,
CA.
Lupe Soto & LIPS put on a terrific ladies tourney. Kudos to Mike Gainey & his
Peppermill Reno poker posse - Montana & Charlie.
