The iPod Touch has revolutionized the way we stay connected to the world!
Yes, we use this for business - after all, travel is our biz - but, anyone that wants a
mini-computer/camera/video/game player/voice recorder/etc... in their pocket at all times, that is
ready to go with the push of a button, needs one of these.
We've been attached to this gadget since the moment we purchased it and can't imagine going
anywhere without it in the future. On the last couple of business trips we took, the laptop
stayed behind and the iPod Touch was our only method of staying in contact with email, skype,
uploading photos and video to Flickr, Facebook and Twitter. It also provided endless hours of
entertainment in airports, train stations, on buses and during down times.
It's amazing how many places now have free WIFI available, and that enables us to quickly post
to social media and do all the other things we'd typically do with a laptop - except, the iPod
Touch fits in the palm of our hand and only weighs about 4 ounces. Our recent trip to Ireland
saw us post over 50 photos and videos in real time - everywhere from pubs to museums to
restaurants had WIFI available for free use and therefore we were uploading to the web as
things happened.
There are a gazillion apps available for use with the iPod Touch and so far we've tried out a
handful of free ones with great success. Plus, we've even been able to Skype with better clarity
and speed than when we're using our PC or laptop - although, we've only been able to do a
voice chat and not video chat.
The only thing we haven't really liked so far is the chrome back. From the first fingerprints to all
the scratches (don't know how the scratches got there as we're super careful with it and don't
put it in anything but a lined jacket pocket), it just always looks messy. But, that has now been
taken care of with the additional purchase of a rubber cover - which also helps secure our grip
on this little thing, too.
The camera is not great quality, but takes OK shots outside or when there is plenty of light.
Indoor shots and low-light shots are very grainy - no flash function. Most will not be suitable for
printing, but are adequate for sharing on the web.
Battery life is also pretty good. Apple claims that it gets 40 hours of music playback and about 7
hours of video playback. We've found that we can get anywhere from 5-8 hours of use on a
single charge using all the functions, including: music, video, email, games, Skype, camera, web
browsing, etc.
Bottom Line:
This is a gadget that works well for travel, entertainment and just kicking around the house. A
great addition to any woman's life. Make sure to purchase a A/C adapter, otherwise it requires
being charged with a computer.
