MOAB, UTAH
MOAB:  Surrounded with Native American heritage, the whole area was once home to the Parianuche, or Grand River Ute people,
so make sure to stay on the trails as to protect the fragile ecosystem and preserve any natural treasures.  From here you can access
many of the National and State Parks and much more.  Moab is the undisputed mecca of mountain biking and the town has many
mountain bike outfitters that can guide you to trails suitable for your skill level.  Access the Colorado and Green Rivers by canoe,
kayak or rafting trips.  The
Dan O'Laurie Museum of Moab (118 East Center Street) has exhibits that will help you understand this
spectacular area.  Upon arrival in Moab visit the
Visitor Information Centre (Centre & Main St.) for park information, weather
forecasts, maps and all local info; also pick up a copy of the
Moab GuestGuide for all the latest information on what to do and where
to go.

TIPS FOR BEING IN THE DESERT
Drink fluid that will help replenish the sodium and electrolytes you lose during activities (such as a sports drink).  Avoid drinking
much alcohol or soft drinks.  Always travel with water in your car, enough for everyone for the entire day.  A water pack
(Camelbak) will help you take small frequent drinks along the trail, keeping you better hydrated than a bottle in your backpack.
