ANCHORAGE: Surrounded by spectacular scenery, Anchorage sits at the base of the Chugach
Mountains. During the summer months Anchorage has brilliant displays of flowers throughout
the city. There are plenty of activities to keep visitors very busy and entertained. Get a taste
of Alaska seafood with King Crab, wild salmon, Prince William Sound oysters, halibut and much
more. Lots of shopping, restaurants and cultural events will keep you on the go from early
until late. If you happen to be in Anchorage on the first Friday of any month, the First Friday
Art Walk has galleries showing special exhibits from a wide variety of artists, and visitors can
take in the shows on a self-guided walking tour around downtown. If you visit Anchorage
during the spring or summer, make sure to take advantage of the beautiful, long days. During
summer Solstice the sun doesn't set until just before midnight and comes back up again within
a few hours. Just think about all the things you can do with 19-plus hours of daylight!
