CAMINO DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELLA If you've ever wanted an adventure of the spirit and soul, this is it!
WAYS TO TELL WHO IS A PILGRIM - THE FUNNY SIDE OF THINGS!
The advice that you are going to find here is from our own first hand experience and that of other pilgrim friends. We hope it helps you along your journey.
- Farmers tan around arms, neck, eyes and ankles.
- Walks with socks and sandals.
- Looks and smells like a hobo.
- Laundry is pinned to their backpack while walking.
- Wears the next day's walking clothes to bed.
- Never without toilet paper in a pocket and never leaves a bar or restaurant without the
paper napkin.
- Upon standing from a rest during the day, the pilgrim walks very slowly and with a stoop for
the first ten minutes
- Says "Hi my name is ........., and I'm from .........., my feet, blisters, legs, back, etc., are killing
me. What hurts for you?"
- Drinks beer for breakfast with eggs and bacon at 9AM.
- Keeps the Spanish Farmacia in business.
- Speaks Camino English - very slowly, lots of hand signals and body movements.
- A pilgrim develops great patience and tolerance because in Spain you can only do one task
at a time (i.e. The staff in the bars/cafes along the route can only make one cup of coffee at a time, and only after they've made everyone's coffee can they make the toast you asked for twenty minutes ago when you ordered your coffee).
- Everything runs on "Island Time" along the Camino route, so you learn more patience.
THE MANY USES OF A PAPER DINNER NAPKIN
- Wipe your mouth and hands during dinner.
- Wrap your leftovers in it for breakfast.
- Wipe your nose in the morning when you first start walking and it's cold.
- Wipe other parts later as needed.
- Let us know your suggestions for more uses.
