The New Alaska Cookbook
THE GOOD MEN - A Novel of Heresy
by Charmaine Craig

The setting is Montaillou, France during the
fourteenth-century.  A young woman, Grazida Lizier is
tried by the inquisition against heretical Christians in
medieval France.  A tiny mountain village falls under the
influence of saintly wanderers known as Good Men who
preach that the world was created by the devil and
should be despised. The narrative, which is based on
historical sources, unfolds from several points of view:
those of an alcoholic widow, a lustful village priest, a
cobbler struggling with his homosexuality, a conflicted
inquisitor.   WJ read
The Good Men while touring France
and paid a visit to
Montaillou and some of the towns
mentioned in the book - what a thrill!  This is a great read.

Recipes From The Best Chefs Of The Last Frontier by
Kim Severson, Glenn Denkler.

Fantastic recipes - some of our favorites are:  Chocolate
Brownies with Blueberries, Halibut Baked in Macadamia
Nuts with Coconut Curry and Mango Chutney, Sesame
Salmon Cakes with Soy-Ginger Glaze.
This book is a must for anybody who loves to cook and try
out new recipes.
The Boreal Gourmet - Adventures in Northern Cooking
by Michele Genest

A unique and incredibly tasty recipe book chock-full of
amazing food,  photographs and cooking tips. You can
even learn all about starting sourdough.

WJ has added some of the recipes in this book to our "last
meal" list. We especially fell in love with the braised moose
ribs with espresso stout and chocolate - now that's an
absolute winner!

American small town. As with all of Bryson's books, this one
is hilarious!
