We would rather be exploring Tumacacori! We would rather be at Tumacacori National Historical Park in Arizona, USA! Situated in southern Arizona - 50 miles (80 km) south of Tucson and 18 miles (23 km) north of Nogales (at the border of Mexico), Tumacacori National Park is home to the ruins of three Spanish mission communities. The above photos show the ruins of the Franciscan church at Mission San Jose de Tumacacori, which dates to the late 1700s. Admission is only $3 and valid for seven days. Visitors enter the park through the visitor center and self-guided tours are possible by picking up a pamphlet to borrow (suggested donation $1) whilst inside the park. Plan on spending a couple of hours taking in the park sights - longer if you plan on doing any small hikes. During our visit, a volunteer was preparing fresh tortillas by hand for visitors to sample (suggested donation $1) - it was one of the best tortillas we've ever tasted. This is an interesting stop to add to any itinerary as part of a trip to this area of Arizona. http://www.nps.gov/tuma Happy Travels!
