Things To Do In Barcelona, Spain We would rather be eating tapas in Barcelona, Spain! One of our favorite haunts to duck into whilst in Barcelona is El Quim de la Boqueria. In the midst of the famous Mercat St. Josep La Boqueria (enter from La Rambla), this tapas bar is a favorite with locals and tourists alike. Only the freshest ingredients are used to prepare an amazing array of innovative small plates. Stopping for a quick snack or lunch will have you wanting to come back for more. Be early or be prepared to wait for a seat, as there are only about 18 stools around the bar. A few of our favorite El Quim dishes are: Calamari; Tortilla (especially the spinach & potato) - an egg-based dish; fried artichokes; white beans; and grilled asparagus - Amazingly good! Of course, beer and wine are also available and a must if you want to fit in with the locals. El Quim de la Boqueria - Closed: Sunday Address: 586-606 Mercat de la Boqueria, La Rambla 101. Tel: 93 301 98 10 Email: elquimdelaboqueria@hotmail.com You just might find yourself rubbing elbows at the bar of this family-run business with some of Barcelona's top chefs who are also there to enjoy the mouthwatering Catalan dishes. Although prices are reasonable, don't expect them to be cheap - the calamari dish alone = 13.95Euro; Glass of beer = 1.75Euro; Tortilla = 3.25Euro; Mixed plate of vegetables = 6.50 Euro. Make sure you leave plenty of time to visit the rest of this bustling world-famous market. A good couple of hours is what we spent to take in the full extent of the amazing varieties of seafood, fruit, vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines, etc... but that's a whole other segment. This is most definitely a worthwhile experience. Happy Travels! Viv and Jill AKA: WJ View photos at: www.wavejourneywomen.blogspot.com |
