Things To Do In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We would rather be enjoying sunny tropical days and the many entertaining activities for visitors
to do, in the Mexican resort city of Puerto Vallarta along the Pacific Ocean!

Since 1950 the population in PV has risen from approximately 10,000 to just over 200,000. It is
definitely not the sleepy little Mexican beach town it used to be.

Stroll along the beach; swim or play in the ocean; relax and catch some rays; play beach
volleyball; sit under a palapa and make friends with a chilled Corona.

Shop at Mercado de Isla Cuale, a large outdoor market in the Centro along the Rio Cuale, for
local souvenirs; pinatas; blankets; leather goods include belts, jackets, wallets, sandals and
shoes; hand-carved trinkets; clothes,T-shirts, linens and hats; all sorts of crafts and nick-knacks
from all over Mexico. Make sure to bargain and start at about 50% of the first price you are
quoted and work from there - don't be afraid to walk away and watch them come after you with
a better price. Some of the stalls accept credit cards but may charge a surcharge.

Explore the tiny cobbled streets and eat freshly-made tacos and tortillas at a street-front stall.
You will find the locals lingering outside their favorite lunch or snack spot.

Find a traditional restaurant that is popular with the locals and enjoy huevos rancheros (fried
eggs served on hot corn tortillas and smothered in cooked salsa or tomato-chili sauce) for a late
breakfast or brunch.

Visit some of the attractions and historic buildings around the city such as:
Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe - the crown on the top replicates one worn by Empress Carlota
in the late 1860s;
Casa Kimberley - Richard Burton bought this house for Elizabeth Taylor back in the 1960's. It has
been left mostly untouched and is open for tours;
Museo del Cuale - houses changing art exhibitions and a small collection of pottery, clay figurines
and ancient artifacts.

After such a busy day, head to Plaza Principal. Then just sit back and watch the days dust
disappear whilst getting your shoes shined.

Happy Travels!
