Buchenwald Nazi Concentration Camp Weimer Germany
We remember the fifty-six thousand lives lost in World War II at Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp,
located near Weimar, Germany. We also remember the two-hundred and fifty-thousand prisoners that
were incarcerated here between July 1938 and April 1945.
Buchenwald Concentration Camp Entrance
During a trip through Germany, WJ landed in Weimar and decided to visit Buchenwald. The memories of
our visit to this site still send shivers down our spine when we think of the atrocities that took place
here. U.S President Barack Obama walked the grounds of Buchenwald on June 5, 2009 with German
Chancellor Angela Merkel. President Obama wanted to visit this camp in particular because his uncle,
Charles Payne, was one of the U.S. soldiers who liberated the camp in April 1945.

Buchenwald Concentration Camp | Weimer Germany
A visit to Buchenwald or another concentration camp is important to keep the memories of those who died
and those who survived fresh and in the fore-front of our minds.

Lest we never forget, and history never repeat itself!
