I have sailed on Uniworld before and have always enjoyed their cruises. Our staff on the River Empress was excellent. All were relaxed, easy-going and fun! They treated every guest with the utmost courtesy and respect. A warm cup of hot chocolate after a cold rainy day in Salzburg was well appreciated. These are the type of amenities I have come to expect on a Uniworld River Cruise. There are a few other differences between a river cruise and a regular large ship I want to note. The cabins on-board most river cruises are not as luxurious as you will find on ocean liners, nor is there in-room dining service. Also, be prepared to walk up and down many stairs. Most tours include quite a bit of walking through these cities and towns, their palaces and churches. Once in awhile you may want to say "no" to some of the daily tours and enjoy the charming villages on your own. These walking or bus tours are all included in the price of you cruise. Plus, they usually offer additional optional tours as well, like the concert in Vienna. I do appreciate getting to see each city and town this way and I love having local guides who are knowledgeable about their particular city. I just like to venture out on my own once in awhile. Either way, it is a wonderful way to visit these magnificent cities and towns. Overall, I would highly recommend this cruise, "The Enchanting Danube", and the cruise line, Uniworld, to anyone looking to experience a river cruise. This was one of the best!
