Our trip to Thailand consisted of some great places like Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.
Phuket is known as the ‘Pearl of the
Andaman’. It is Thailand’s third largest island
and its smallest province, next wealthiest after
Bangkok. Phuket has many fun things to do.
The fascinating Big Buddha temple is a
fascinating pilgrim site - a huge statue of
Buddha made out of stone. Another beautiful
site not too far away from here is the View
point, which gives one a bird’s eye view of the
entire city of Phuket. The Phuket Simon
cabaret done by transvestites is a must-do. It’
s full of extravagant costumes, glitterati, bright
lights and music. Another must-do is the Snake
farm where you can see a man kissing the
deadly cobra as well as hold a python around
your neck! While in Phuket, don’t forget to pick
up some cashew nuts and other exotic food
items that you can take back home! One of the
best places to stay in Phuket is the Le Meriden
Bangkok has some great shopping avenues that fit every budget. Depending on where you
are staying, there are plenty of options to choose from. Bustling Silom Road is located in the
heart of Bangkok’s commercial, shopping, jewelry and entertainment haven. On Silom Road,
you will find a mix of big shops like the Robinson department store. Other great shopping
bargains are available at MBK, Platinum Tower, Central World, Siam Tower and Panthip Plaza
(Electronics market). Also located close by is the Chatuchak Weekend market. Silom Road also
has a number of nice cafes and eateries like the Maria Pizzeria & restaurant, Nadimos
Lebanese restaurant and the Tandoor Indian restaurant. Also worth visiting are the in-house
restaurants of the Holiday Inn, Silom: Hari’s bar and Jameson’s Irish pub (just outside the
hotel). Another good place to stay in Bangkok is Elegance Suites on Silom Bangrak.

which has a beach, a huge swimming pool, apart from other in-house sports like golf, an
artificial climbing wall and table tennis, making it the perfect family destination.
Sukhumvit Road is another interesting place to walk by in Bangkok, especially if you’re looking
for some tailoring work to be done, or look around at affordable clothes or jewelry.
Recognized stores like Chin and the Thai Centre (Leela) offer some great varieties of jewelry
at good prices. By and large, however, the best bargains are available at the Patpong night
market or the Lumphini night market. There’s also Chinatown, but do it only if you have the
time.
Bangkok is famous for some of the oldest and most aesthetically built Buddha temples –
