Your Journey Starts Here!
Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin
Next, we toured Ke’Anae
Harbour. The blue of the
ocean crashing against Lava
Rock shores matched those
we saw in the Glaciers in
Alaska.

If you go, don’t miss a stop
at Aunty Sandy’s shack for a
shaved ice with 3 flavors
large enough to share.  I
chose mango, guava and
strawberry - very delicious
and refreshing on this long
day trip.

Not mentioned on the CD.
This area was once a large
taro root production area.
The Ke’Anae Overlook
provides a glimpse of what
life was like in ancient times.
Beyond the Waialua Lookout
is a paved pullout to view
the bay and St. Gabriel’s
church.

We pass waterfalls difficult
to photograph, and drive
past the Pua’a Ka’a State
Park
While not on the CD, We toured the Hana Lava Tube, AKA: Ka’ Eleku Caverns located at 205
Ulaino Road in Hana. On private property they offer self-guided tours Monday through
Saturday.

One of the world's largest volcanic lava tubes, over 1000 years old, it has a myriad of
beautiful stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone.  The temperature is 60 degrees F. year-round
and is easily navigated.
As cave spelunkers, both on dry land and under the sea, we were happy to add one more to
our list.  Visit their website to see photographs and the beautiful Ti maze above ground as
well.  Place cave entrance/exit photo and the Ti plant photo here.
Inside Waianapanapa State
Park, where you can easily
spend a day picnicking, hiking
to Hana, touring caves, more
lava tubes, viewing blow
holes or lounging on the
gorgeous Black Beach in Pa’
iloa Bay, our time was cut
short as the rain clouds let
loose, totally drenching
everyone.

It was tragic comedy
watching the young, old and
in-between rush to their
vehicles for cover.  Some
simply gave up the battle and stood under trees. Thank God for Exoficio clothing and gallon
