AU REVOIR, FRENCH POLYNESIA ~ continued
Living in French Polynesia is like living in a post-card. Surrounded by coconut trees, you can swim among
a thousand small fish in the blue turquoise waters of the lagoon or lay down yourself to rest on a warm
white sand beach. Yes, it has been my life for the last 10 years.
Au revoir, French Polynesia, au revoir.

BIO: Virginia De La Rosa
I’m 50 years old, latin-American origins. Born in Panama, but spent many years in Nice, Bratislava
and French Polynesia.
I’ve been writing for myself, keeping some secret personal notes. Then, shyly written for Hotel
Newsletter and a local newspaper.
Through my personal blog, I share some of my writings, in Spanish, French and English, mostly
about my everyday life, family, souvenirs. Link:

Exploring words and the emotions they bring when put together, is one of the most rewarding
experiences I’ve ever enjoyed in my life. I find happiness through them and want to share them
with you.
Perhaps touched by the
magic breath of ancient gods,
by their“mana”, their power,
their witchcraft. Because,
believe or not, all this is still
alive and keeps, even today,
criss-crossing valleys,
mountains and seas.

Without you noticing it,
without a word, it enters
your homes and hearts.
There’s nothing you can do
about it.
Ancient Mana
But when you’re touched, please, be confident and feel blessed. You’ll be connected to the
island’s most deepest secrets, souvenirs and history. You’ll be part of its mountains, valleys,
reef and, most of all, of its basic essence.
In your whole soul you’ll feel the breath of the spirit of the island. You’ll laugh and cry for it,
you’ll suffer and be delighted about it. Your body, spirit and soul will be everafter pierced and
you’ll be born again.

People say every good thing has an end. I don’t think so. I might say good-bye to these
islands, I might fly away but, Moorea will never come off my heart. It’s like a rose thorn deeply
embedded in my skin.

Au revoir, French Polynesia, au revoir.
