WJ continues to stay busy and recently spent a few days on the Oregon Coast and touring Ashland, Oregon. Thanks to the Britt Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon for inviting us to experience a fantastic concert by the 70's band Chicago. And, also thanks to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, for the fun time we had at "As You Like It", a play by William Shakespeare.
Looking for ideas for an Oregon tour? Next month's newsletter will have a suggested itinerary for an 11-day loop to experience some of the finest Oregon has to offer.

FEATURED STORY Walpurgisnacht - A German Witchfest by Steenie Harvey
Germany's Harz Mountains have an eerie reputation. Locals don't wait until Halloween to cast the runes or scare the neighbors. April 30---Walpurgisnacht---is the spookiest date in their calendar, a trysting-time for ghosts and witches.
Yet although Walpurgisnacht is a tourism money-spinner, it isn't some made-up festival. With origins that predate Christianity, May Eve is a tangible link to a long-gone age when people firmly believed magic stalked the land.
Throughout much of central Europe, Walpurgisnacht remains one of the year's great turning points. Folklore deems this is the night when the northern winter makes a final stand, whenDame Holda's witches gather in lonely places to dance away the snow. It's essentially a time to bid farewell to darkness and celebrate the Rite of Spring.

Golf in the Wild West By Angella Hamilton

No, this isn't a desert sanctuary; it's Rancho Manana - one of Arizona 's 'most scenic golf courses'. North of Phoenix, in the western town of Cave Creek lies a quiet resort filled with charm. A dude ranch in 1945 has become a star in itself with scenic golf, upscale southwestern dining and a newly renovated spa.
