Den Haag, known in English as The Hague, is the Netherlands third-largest city. Located southwest of Amsterdam (1 hour train ride from Amsterdam Centraal Station), Den Haag is the actual seat of government and where Queen Beatrix lives and works. Conveniently situated on a quiet street in the heart of the historic centre, the Paleis Hotel is a luxury-boutique hotel not to be missed. From our top floor room we could even see where Queen Beatrix goes to work - The Royal Noordeinde Palace. Attention to detail is the first thing we noticed as we entered the hotel and things only got better during our stay. The 20 guest rooms are decorated with antique furniture and unique fabrics from the famous French house of "Pierre Frey". Embroidered, crisp, white, cotton linens adorn comfortable beds in rooms that include all the amenities that one would expect from a luxury-boutique hotel; top-quality bathroom amenities; plush bathrobes; in-room safe; air-conditioning. The breakfast room is beautifully decorated in muted tones and where a sumptuous buffet breakfast is served with antique silver teapots. Weekend stays will get you a better room rate with breakfast being included - rates from: Euro149. During the week room rates start at Euro189, with breakfast costing Euro16.
