Travel Tales No Shopping For Me, Please ~ Mall of America.
By Michele Bogue Applegate
I'm a woman and I don't like shopping. There, I said it - so let the tomatoes fly.
Usually, when I tell another woman that I dislike shopping, the conversation comes to a dead halt and she wrinkles her face in disbelief. "What did you say?" I might as well have said that I hate chocolate. Don't worry - I'm not crazy. But seriously - I do not look forward to any shopping trips. Men can't believe it either. They usually ask me to repeat that phrase in front of their wives. I don't dare.
Some women have the "S" Gene (the shopping gene) and some don't. I was born without that gene. I think that's one of the things my husband loves most about me. I'm OK with it, too. I have found that I can lead a perfectly normal life without the "S" Gene.
Some women get full use of their "S" Gene. I have a friend who makes an annual trip with her friends to Bloomington, Minnesota, just outside of Minneapolis, to shop for an entire weekend! For her, it's a four-hour drive each way. They get a hotel nearby and spend the entire weekend going back and forth from their hotel to the Mall of America.

Yogurt: The Most Perfect Food Known to Humankind.
By Habeeb Salloum
The ancient yogis of India mixed yogurt with honey and called it the 'food of the gods'. Cleopatra bathed in this milk product to give herself a clear and tender complexion and Genghis Khan fed it to his soliders to give them courage. One of man's earliest prepared foods, yogurt can claim few equals in the folklore of the culinary arts. Some label it 'the miracle milk product'; others 'a mystery food'; while the romantics call it 'the elixir of life'.
A milk curdled by the actions of cultures with the consistency of custard, yogurt was discovered about 5,000 years ago on the Mesopotamian plains. Later, the Turks, who carried it into eastern and central Europe, gave it the name we still use - yogurt. From the early days of its introduction in that part of the world, especially in Bulgaria, it caught on like wildfire and became known as 'a health food par excellence'. Modern nutritionists have established that its reputation as an almost medicinal food is justified. It has been found that yogurt contains a digestive enzyme which prolongs life. It has also been proved that besides all the healthful elements found in milk, yogurt contains a teeming load of bacteria - about 100 million per gram. These multipy in the intestines and, by getting rid of the accumulated germs, relieve stomach ulcers, dysentery, and promote excellent digestion.

Die Walskipper Restaurant ~ Shoes NOT Required!
By Viv Chapleo
A warm breeze off the Indian Ocean tousles my hair, cool damp sand chills my toes and waves dance along the shoreline of Clapton Beach. With the sun setting on the horizon, four friends feast on the mouth-watering seafood pan before us.
Accompanied by melted garlic butter, the seafood pan for three is an enormous platter of the freshest and most delicious seafood I have ever tasted. Mounds of crayfish, calamari, mussels, prawns, linefish and crabsticks served over a bed of rice are more than the four of us can possibly devour in one evening.
Not exactly on the beaten track, Die Walskipper Restaurant in Jeffreys Bay is well worth putting on your list of "must do" things in South Africa's Eastern Cape.

Featured Recipe ~ Spanish Potato Tortilla by Viv from BC, Canada.
Simple, quick and great hot or cold as an appetizer or part of a main course. Serves 6
You will need:
2 pounds all-purpose potatoes, peeled 1 medium onion, diced 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, sharp works best 1 cup extra-virgin olive oil 10 large eggs, beaten salt
1. Quarter the potatoes lengthwise and thinly slice them crosswise. In a large skillet, heat all but 2 tablespoons of the olive oil until shimmering. Carefully add the potatoes to the skillet and cook over high heat, stirring once or twice, until the potatoes are softened and just beginning to brown, about 15 minutes. Using a slotted spoon transfer the potatoes to a plate.
2. Add onions to skillet and cook over high heat until just beginning to brown, about 5 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the onions to a bowl.
3. Pour off the oil in the skillet.
4. In a large bowl, combine the beaten eggs, good pinch of salt, grated cheese, potatoes and onion.
5. Return the skillet to high heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil.
6. Add the mixture to the skillet and cook, lifting the edge of the tortilla and tilting the pan to allow the uncooked eggs to seep underneath; cook until the bottom is golden and set, about 5 minutes.
7. Slide the tortilla onto a large plate and pour off any oil.
8. Cover the tortilla with the inverted skillet; using 2 oven mitts, grasp the skillet and the plate and quickly invert the tortilla back into the pan.
9. Cook the tortilla over high heat until the bottom is set and lightly browned, about 3 minutes longer.
10. Slide the tortilla onto a plate, cut into wedges and serve.
