WJ's Review:
There's a reason they call them Flash. These snowshoes
are the lightest MSR makes, so maybe that's why we
moved quick as a flash.

In deep snow or on packed trails MSR Women's Lightning
Flash is so lightweight that it doesn't add any extra effort
to movement, therefore there is less leg fatigue after a
full day of trail breaking in deep powder.

WJ tested the 25" model after deciding they would give
us more versatility given the amount of gear we would
carry and variety of terrain we would cover. We were very
pleased with our choice. Even on days when we
snowshoed on very packed trails and didn't carry much
extra gear, the Flash snowshoes were so comfortable we
barely noticed we were wearing them.

The crampons are aggressively styled and dig into even
the iciest slopes, providing tremendous stability and grip.
We found the aluminum frames are rugged and gave
superb traction.

SpeedLock bindings on the Flash (same as on
MSR
Lightning Axis) are a fix once and step in/out system that
felt secure and comfortable with no pressure points.

The Flash for women comes in ice white - at times it
looked like the tester was floating on top of the snow. For
those times when extra length was required, the 5"
optional floatation tails were very handy to pack along
and quick and easy to attach.
Bottom Line:
If you want a lot of snowshoe for your money, MSR Lightning Flash comes to the rescue. This is a
terrific women's snowshoe for use in a variety of snow conditions and provides great comfort
whether traipsing along on the flat or plowing through powder on rolling terrain.

Price: MSR Women's Lightning Flash US$199.95

Notes:
- When deciding between the 22" and 25", be sure to take your body weight and add the weight
of all your gear. Either size can be increased for added floatation with the Modular Floatation
Tails that can be purchased seperately and add an extra 5" of length.

- As we don't read instructions very well, we found it very useful to watch the SpeedLock binding
video first.

- If you're pigeon-toed or walk like a duck, consider forking over an extra US$40 for the
Lightning
Axis with the Axis Gait Efficiency bilateral binding adjustment system.
