Viv and Jill have been busy exploring the Northwest in the United States:
canoeing; hiking; wine tasting; taking in a Seattle Mariner's baseball game and
most recently spending a few days riding horses at a dude ranch in Central
Oregon.
The highlight of our dude ranch trip was riding the dusty trails around the ranch
aboard Quarter horses, Scotch and Aurora. If we only had room to take them
home...
We also had the pleasure of meeting a lovely couple, Michel and Michele from
France, who joined us in Bend. Michel and Michele are heading to the Bar M
Ranch in Oregon and then will spend a week in Idaho, riding in the mountains
with an outfitter. We look forward to hearing about their adventures once they
return to their home near Paris.

62 Castle St is a stunning, modern and exclusive city centre boutique hotel,
formerly known as the Trials Hotel.
Using a contemporary interior with a traditional twist, the design contradicts but
complements the beautiful Victorian architecture, providing you with luxury hotel
accommodation.
I have recently stayed at the hotel and I found it was absolutely amazing, the
attention to detail is out of this world, and the Elemis toiletries in the bathroom
help even the most wound up person, me, relax after a hard day shopping.
I actually live in Liverpool but my boyfriend decided to surprise me for my
birthday back in March. I really can't stress enough how lovely this hotel is.

A new find for WJ in Central Oregon is The Sparrow Bakery in Bend, with
croissants and pastries that transport your taste buds to a Parisian cafe. Their
Roquefort tart, made with Oregonzola custard, roast garlic & walnut dressing, in
a crisp pate brisee shell, is delectable. Our new found French friends
commented that they were surprised and delighted that the croissant was just
like in Paris.
